I joined the union effort when the pandemic made clear that there were two classes of employees of people at OHSU - those in unions and those not in unions. And I wanted the security and protections that a union could provide. I was also very disappointed in the equity review process and felt I had no options except to accept what OHSU said or to quit. But I love my job and my PIs and I don't want to quit! So a union was a logical next step. Only working together can we make the changes we want to see in how researchers are treated at OHSU!
